Rubies

Motivated by current, historic, and personal events, the Ruby Series is an ongoing collection of intimate raw meat drawings folded into marquise gem shapes which create simultaneous contradicting views of the female body: at once beautiful and grotesque, refined yet raw, geometric and organic, object yet flesh, meat yet muscle, etc. Though each ruby is personified, hand-drawn and folded, the overarching concept becomes an icon of the feminine experience.
